Carry-on Baggage

Passengers are allowed to take 2 carry-on items in the cabin. These items must fit securely under the seat in front of the passenger or in an overhead compartment. The combined total weight of both bags cannot exceed 10kg. Bags will be weighed at check-in and items found to be over the weight limit will be required to travel in the aircraft cargo hold. Each bag must also fit within the measurements of 54cm x 38cm x 23cm.

Checked Baggage

Passengers can travel with hand-baggage at no charge as long as they are within the specified weight and size limitations. Those who wish to purchase a checked baggage allowance may do so at the time of booking on-line. This is the cheapest and most convenient method to purchase a baggage allowance. Passengers may add an allowance to their booking at a later stage by calling the Tiger Air call centre. This can be done up to 4 hours before departure. An allowance can also be purchased at the airport ticket counter; however the weight will be limited to 15kg. Any weight above 15kg will be charged at a per kilo rate.

No single bag can weigh more than 32kg. Bags in excess of this weight will not be accepted. 

Sports Equipment

Sports equipment will form part of the guest’s check-in baggage allowance. During the on-line booking process, “Luggage Upsize” can be selected when purchasing the allowance. Passengers travelling with sports equipment are urged to contact Tiger Air in advance for relevant information regarding transport and packaging for specific types of sporting goods.

Sports equipment may be taken onboard as part of the carry-on allowance provided the item weighs 10kg or less, does not have any sharp edges and does not exceed 105cm x 38cm x 23cm.

Equipment that flies as checked baggage is limited to 30kg and cannot exceed 190cm x 60cm x 80cm.

Bicycles must be packed into a special box available from bike stores or at the airport check-in counter.

 

 

Musical Instruments

Small musical instruments such as a flute, clarinet and guitar may travel in the cabin as carry-on baggage. The size limitations are 30cm x 117cm x 38cm. Instruments which exceed these measurements must travel in the aircraft hold as checked baggage, in which case the guest must purchase a baggage allowance.

Restricted and Dangerous Goods

Sharp items such as knives, scissors or other potentially dangerous items are not allowed in cabin baggage. There are also restrictions on certain materials travelling in checked baggage. Items banned include explosives, fireworks, petrol powered machinery, lithium batteries such as those found in laptop computers, flammable materials and toxins
