Economy

Economy class passengers can expect modern looking interiors with the latest slim line seat technology. Leg room, or seat pitch, equals 31 inches for most aircraft. This is the average measurement for the industry. Seats feature an adjustable headrest as well as a personal seat back video screen for on-demand entertainment. In-flight entertainment consists of a variety of movies, TV shows, games and music.

Economy Class passengers on most international flights enjoy a complimentary hot meal and beverage service. Generally, there is a choice of Indonesian and western style meal choices which include a salad, roll and dessert.

Business Class

Seats in the Business Class cabin can be reclined to a nearly flat angle with leg and foot rests extending out for maximum support. Seats recline within their own hard shell casing which prevents the chair from entering the personal space of the guests seated behind.

Personal touch screen video monitors are located in each armrest. The screens provide hours of entertainment, including over 100 movies, 100 TV shows, 300 music albums and 25 music channels. Programming can be stopped and started at the passenger’s command.

Carry-on Baggage

Each guest, regardless of class of travel is allowed one carry-on item no greater than 7kg in weight. The maximum size of any carry-on item is 56cm in length, 45cm wide and 25cm in depth.

Some handy things to pack in your carry-on include an eye mask, hand cream, phone charger and a spare shirt to freshen up.

Carry On Baggage

Checked Baggage

Checked baggage depends on the class of travel. Economy passengers are allowed to check 1 piece with a maximum weight of 23kg. Business Class and First Class passengers may check 1 piece up to a maximum weight of 32kg. Garuda will not accept any bag weighing more than 32kg (70lbs).

Take one empty suitcase with you as part of your checked baggage so you can shop until you drop!

Checked Baggage

Sporting Equipment

An additional sporting equipment allowance of 23kg is given to those travelling with golf clubs, surf boards, dive gear and bicycles. Passengers should check with the airline for any special packing requirements before the day of departure.

To pack a bike in a bike box: turn the handlebars in and secure to the frame, remove pedals and front wheel if possible, lower or remove seat post and deflate tyres.

Bulky Items

Restricted or Dangerous Goods

Sharp items such as knives, scissors and box cutters are never permitted in carry-on luggage. All liquid and gel containers must be less than 100mL in size and be placed in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag.

Restricted items for checked baggage include fireworks, explosives, flammable liquids and gasses, petrol powered machinery and tools, ammunition, toxins and any other potentially hazardous material. Additionally, all lithium batteries such as those found in laptops, must be placed in cabin luggage as they are never permitted in checked baggage. Any items of question must be declared to airline staff at time of check-in. Failure to do so could result in a fine or imprisonment.

If in doubt, leave it out. Even if you accidentally take a dangerous good on board an aircraft you can be fined and penalised.

Check-in

There are a number of ways to check in for a Garuda Indonesia flight.  Passengers can check-in for their flight at a city ticket office between 24 and 4 hours before departure. Those who purchased a ticket on-line can also check-in by phone with the Garuda Indonesia call centre.

Mobile

Mobile check-in is currently under development (Nov 2014), but once activated, passengers will be able to check-in for their flight between 24 and 4 hours before scheduled departure. This form of check-in will only be available for departures from certain airports which have yet to be named.

Web Check-in

Web check-in opens 24 hours, and closes 4 hours prior to departure. For passengers traveling on a promotional fare, check-in opens 12 hours prior to departure with the same 4 hour cut-off time. Passengers may select or change their seat and either print off boarding passes or have them sent electronically to a mobile device.
