Economy

Passengers flying Jetstar Economy can tailor their flight experience by paying only for the extras they want. Add-ons include meals, pillow and blankets, entertainment, extra leg room and baggage. Leg room in Jetstar Economy is below the industry average and for those guests who are taller, they may want to consider the option of an extra leg room seat.

Meals and beverages may be purchased from the on-board menu. There are a variety of hot mains to choose from as well as sandwiches and other snacks. In-flight entertainment is provided by portable tablets which are pre-loaded with a selection of movies, TV shows, music and games. On 787 aircraft, video entertainment is presented on personal seat back video screens. There is a fee for entertainment and it may be pre-reserved and paid for at time of booking.

Business Class

The separate Business Class cabin is fitted with extra wide armchair seats with a generous amount of leg room and personal space. Seat features include a footrest, adjustable headrest and in-seat power for the recharging of laptops.

Business Class passengers receive complimentary entertainment along with noise cancelling headsets. A three-course meal and beverages are also included in the fare including wine and Grinders Coffee.

Carry-on Baggage

Business Class passengers are allowed two carry-on pieces, plus one personal item such as a handbag, small backpack or a coat. The maximum weight of each item must not exceed 10kg. Economy class passengers have a one bag carry-on limit but may also carry a small personal item. Jetstar Pacific of Vietnam allows a total weight of 10kg for international flights and 7kg of carry-ons for internal flights within Vietnam. The maximum size of cabin baggage must not exceed 56cm x 36cm x23cm

Checked Baggage

Passengers on a Business Class or Starter Max fare are given a baggage allowance of 30kg and 20kg respectively. All other guests much purchase a baggage allowance either at the time of booking or at the airport. Purchasing an allowance in advance is the cheapest and most convenient method. Airport fees are more costly and are charged at a per kilo rate after an initial charge for the first 15kg.

Passengers traveling with an infant (under the age of 2) or small child may also bring a pram, car seat or portable high chair at no extra cost, regardless of class of travel or fare type.

Sporting Equipment

Jetstar accepts several types of sporting equipment, including surfboards and bicycles. Jetstar does require that these and other items be properly packed for safe transport. Passengers should check before the day of departure on specific procedures regarding the type of equipment intended for travel.

Sports equipment may be considered part of the passenger’s baggage allowance provided that it is within weight and size limitations. Excess or overweight charges will apply if above the free allowance.

Musical Equipment

Instruments that are within the size and weight limits for carry-on baggage may be taken in the cabin. This will however count towards a passenger’s carry-on baggage allowance. A seat may be purchased for larger instruments which must be done over the phone with Jetstar. Any instruments weighing more than 15kg, must travel as checked luggage.

Music

Restricted or Dangerous Goods

There are a number of items that are restricted from cabin baggage such as scissors, knives, box cutters and other sharp bladed objects. This may also include baseball or cricket bats, batons or any other item that has the potential to be used as a weapon.

Dangerous goods such as flammable materials, flammable liquids and gasses, toxins, lithium batteries and infectious materials are never allowed in checked luggage. Any type of machinery that is petrol powered may also be restricted. Ask your Flight Centre consultant for complete details if you plan on travelling with anything that may be deemed as dangerous or harmful. All materials of this nature must be declared to check-in staff at the airport.

Check-in

Jetstar has strict check-in cut-off times. Once check-in for a flight closes, late arriving passengers will be denied boarding and will be required to purchase another ticket for the next available flight. See below the Jetstar graph showing check-in open and closing times. Failure to follow these times may result in the forfeiture of your ticket.

Check-in

Web Check

Web check-in is available for many flights by logging on to the Jetstar website or mobile app. Simply enter the six digit reservation number and passport details and the boarding passes will be available for printing or can be sent electronically to a mobile device. Passengers must arrive at the bag drop-off or check-in counters within the required time or risk forfeiting their ticket.

Lounges

Economy Starter Max and Business Class passengers may use a Qantas Club Lounge or partner lounge at a number of Australian and overseas locations. These comfortable lounges are located in many Jetstar International destinations. Ask your Flight Centre consultant if a lounge is located at your planned destination.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

While Jetstar doesn’t maintain its own frequent flyer scheme, members of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program are able to accrue points when travelling on fares with a Plus or Max bundle. Business Class fares are also eligible for Qantas Frequent Flyer points.
