On international widebody flights, economy class passengers enjoy leg room which is slightly more generous than the industry average. New slim line seats feature an adjustable headrest and allow passengers to enjoy the added comfort of greater recline without compromising leg space. Each seat is also equipped with a personal 9 inch seat back video screen for on-demand entertainment.

A complimentary hot meal and beverage service is included on all international flights with the exception of some intra-South American services, in which case a cold snack may be served.

Business Class

LAN’s Premium Business Class features state-of-the-art seats that convert into fully lie flat beds, with a whopping 74 inches between seat backs. The seat is fully electronic and can be contoured to the precise position chosen. Seats also come equipped with 15.4 inch TV screens which are touch operated.

The inflight Premium Business Class menus have been specially created by renowned chefs. Menu’s highlight some of Chile’s and South America’s most tasty ingredients. The master South American Sommelier Héctor Vergara has selected some of Chile’s finest wines to accompany the delicious meals. 

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger is allowed on carry-on bag, plus one personal item such as a handbag, small backpack or briefcase.

Checked Baggage

The checked baggage allowance is determined by the routing of the flight, the class of travel and the frequent flyer status of the passenger. Bags in excess of 23kg and 158cm (L+W+H) will be charged excess fees.

Sporting Equipment

Sporting equipment will be considered as part of a passenger’s free baggage allowance if within the weight and size limitations of 23kg and 158cm (L+W+H). Excess bag fees will apply if the sports equipment is outside these limitations. There are special packing procedures for each type of equipment and guests should contact LAN before the day of departure for detailed instructions.

With the exception of surf boards, the maximum linear dimensions of sporting equipment is 203 linear cm. Surfboards can measure up to 300 linear cm.

Musical Equipment

Small instruments may travel as hand luggage in the cabin provided they fit within the weight and size limitations for carry-on baggage. All other instruments must be properly packaged in a hard-sided case for transport in the cargo hold.

Restricted or Dangerous Goods

Items such as knives, scissors and any other sharp object is not permitted in hand luggage. Liquids and gels are also restricted to 100mL or less for each item. Liquid containers must be packed in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag for inspection at the security check point. 

Dangerous goods are never allowed in checked luggage as they may pose a risk to the safe operation of the flight. This restriction extends to lithium batteries, explosives, fireworks, flammable liquids and gasses, toxins and any other potentially harmful substance. Petrol powered machinery, even when drained of fuel, is also restricted. 

 

Check-in

Passengers are always free to check-in at the LAN ticket counter or self-service kiosk at the airport as long as it’s within check-in open times. Flight check-in closing times are usually 1 hour prior to scheduled departure, however passengers should arrive a minimum of 2 hours before departure.  

Web and Mobile Check-in

On-line check in is available from 48 to 2 hours before scheduled departure by logging on to the LAN website or mobile app. This requires entering the six digit reservation number which will generate a boarding pass which can either be printed off or sent electronically to a mobile device. Passengers travelling with bags for check-in must proceed to the bag drop-off counter upon arrival at the airport. Bags must be dropped off before airport check-in closing time. Passengers arriving too late will be denied boarding.

Lounges

Elite members of LAN’s frequent flyer program, LANPass have access to over 550 lounges worldwide. In addition to LAN’s lounges within Chile and key international destinations, members can also enjoy member lounges within the Oneworld Alliance network. Oneworld airlines include American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Qantas and others.

Each lounge provides a relaxing atmosphere which is suitable for work or for rest, where guests can enjoy complimentary food and drinks, Wi-Fi, business amenities and in most cases, private showers. 

 

LANPass

LANPass is the frequent flyer program for LAN Airlines. By becoming a member, passengers are able to collect mileage points for travel on LAN, TAM and Oneworld alliance member flights. Benefits include award travel, upgrades, lounge access, increased baggage allowances and a vast range of other useful features.

There are four tiers in the LANPass program: Premium, Premium Silver, Comodoro and Comodoro Black.

Premium – This introductory elite tier offers a 25 percent point bonus, check-in at the business or premium counter, priority baggage on LAN and TAM and coupons for cabin upgrades.

Premium Silver – Silver members will receive a 100 percent point bonus for travel on LAN, TAM and American Airlines plus priority check-in, priority boarding and priority baggage. VIP Lounge access is also provided.

Comodoro – In addition to the 100 percent point bonus and other benefits enjoyed by Premium and Silver, Comodoro elite members also receive preferential seating, excess baggage on Oneworld airlines and special notification on exclusive events and sales.

Comodoro Black – Comodoro Black members will also receive top tier benefits on all Oneworld member airline flights including lounge access, upgrades and priority check-in and baggage.

Fleet

LAN operates a modern fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft to over 30 international and 17 domestic destinations.

Service to Europe, New Zealand and Australia are operated with widebody aircraft such as the A340-300 while North American routes are served primarily with Boeing 767-300ER and Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Domestic and South American services are flown primarily on the airline’s narrow-body fleet of Airbus A319, A320 and A321 aircraft.
