Wine routes, Table Mountain, Cable car, Chapman’s Peak Drive, Robben Island, V&A Waterfront, Cape Point, Camps Bay, Boulders Beach, African penguins, Rhodes Memorial, great beaches and hotels, and Kirstenbosch gardens; put them all together and you easily come up with a two-word destination, namely, Cape Town.

The inner city abounds with accommodation but if you are looking for a holiday destination, it is best to consider those establishments dotted along the city’s extensive coastline. Cape Town’s waters are not as warm as those washing the KwaZulu-Natal coast, but the city’s white sandy beaches are kept clean, the waters clear and they are altogether inviting.

The shoreline boasts many beaches and great infrastructure, including well-kept roads, parks, and a host of restaurants. Some of the beaches are simply superb and there are many great beachfront hotels and guest houses/boutique hotels to be found all along Cape Town’s shoreline. Other beaches are more sun-seeking and swimming holidaymaker friendly and are an experience in themselves. While on the other hand, Boulders Beach is the most fun of them all, because after paying a conservation access fee, you can swim with wild African penguins. This is a particularly great protected beach for children to enjoy. All the beaches are welcoming and provide visitors with everything a seaside destination could ask for.

Cape Town is the centre of the South African tourist industry so is therefore blessed with a wide variety of hotels ranging from small boutique hotels to the more upmarket ones. Making the right choice of hotel accommodation - especially when it comes to hotels adjoining the city’s beaches - can indeed prove to be tricky for the first-time visitor.

At Flight Centre, we have checked out some of the top beachfront hotels in the area and listed them below so that you can see what is on offer. (Please note: The accommodation options below are not listed in order of preference or amenities, the list is purely alphabetical.)
