Turning 40 deserves something extraordinary, and we don’t just mean a nicer dinner. South African radio personality Tracey Lange showed us exactly how it’s done, celebrating her big four-zero aboard Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas in partnership with Flight Centre.

From the Orlando Florida to Mexico, she explored everything a week-long cruise has to offer. We’ve been scrolling through her Instagram and let’s just say, we’re feeling pretty inspired by her milestone birthday! As Tracey put it, “Only 7 days in the Caribbean, but a lifetime’s worth of memories!”

To mark the big occasion, we’ve put together 40 incredible experiences you can enjoy on a Caribbean cruise aboard the Wonder of the Seas.

40 Things to Do on a Royal Caribbean Cruise

Of course, we’re talking mostly about Wonder of the Seas here. But let’s be honest, you can have an incredible experience onboard any of their ships. Here’s what you should definitely be adding to your cruise wish list when you’re dreaming of what state room to book.

1. Start Your Adventure with a Tour of the Ship

No matter how many times you’ve gone on a cruise, the sheer size of the ships is something you won’t get used to. Tracey summed it up perfectly: “It’s been less than 24 hours aboard the Wonder of the Seas and my jaw still keeps dropping every time I get to another deck or take another turn on this majestic ship!”

2. Dine in Elegance at 150 Central Park

This fine-dining restaurant offers an unforgettable experience. Book it for your last night to end off the week with a bang!

3. Stroll Through Central Park

It isn’t quuuuite as big as the one in New York, but it’s still impressive! Tracey enjoyed everything the park had to offer one night: “Now for a show, then Jazz in the Park, dinner, and then a DJ set all on board the Wonder of the Seas!”

4. Have a Perfect Day at CocoCay

Royal Caribbean’s private island in The Bahamas is as incredible as it sounds – a must-do on any Caribbean cruise itinerary.

5. Step into the Caribbean Waters

It was a 40th dream come true for Tracey: “I’ve stepped into Caribbean waters! As a kid, watching all these movies and people talking about the Caribbean, I never would’ve imagined I’d be here one day!”

6. Try the FlowRider Surf Simulator

Experience the thrill of riding waves at sea, for those who aren’t so keen to try their hand at actual surfing.

7. Explore the Bahamas

You’ll definitely want to spend time soaking in the surrounds when you’re on a Royal Caribbean cruise through this part of the world. And you’ll want to take a few extra bites of food too, we reckon. Tracey put it best when she said “Today we’re in the Bahamas, and I’ll share pics later. I feel like I’ve already eaten more than I generally do in a week!”

8. Slide Down the Ultimate Abyss

Adrenaline junkies can have a go on this slide which makes Sun City’s Temple of Courage look tame. You’re around 40m above sea level and will hit speeds of over 14km/h!

9. Sip Sunset Cocktails at The Vue

Relax with panoramic ocean views and a perfectly mixed drink. Ocean view sunsets don’t get better than this!

10. Snorkel in Cozumel

One of the most popular spots in Mexico to snorkel – you might see turtles or even rays. And if not, it’s still gorgeous scenery and you’re guaranteed to see plenty of colourful fish and reef life.

11. Enjoy Live Entertainment at AquaTheater

The ‘deepest pool at sea’ isn’t just for swimming! Royal Caribbean’s AquaTheater is a venue for full-scale productions that combine gravity-defying performances across the air, water, and stage.

12. Treat Yourself at Sugar Beach

This onboard sweet spot is a candy lover’s paradise. And we’re not just talking about the kids!

13. Watch a Movie Under the Stars

Unwind with a film on the open-air pool deck. It’s an amazing way to mark a special occasion or just have a relaxed night onboard.

14. Relax in the Adults-Only Solarium

This tranquil retreat is ideal for soaking – both the views and in the warm hot tubs. It’s an entirely enclosed dome, so you can enjoy it whatever the weather.

Expert tip

Check what is included in your cruise prior to booking. Does it include prepaid gratuities or are they paid onboard? Often the cruise lines will offer some great deals around beverage package, or perhaps include onboard credit you can use towards a spa treatment.

15. Play Mini Golf on Deck

Perfect for fun, casual competition for the whole family. Putt-putt will never feel the same again after you’ve done it on a giant floating resort.

16. Dine at Izumi

Don’t forget to explore options outside of the buffet. If you’re a fan of Asian food, you’ll love the fresh sushi and other Japanese delicacies on offer at Izumi.  The variety of the food is one of the major drawcards of Royal Caribbean cruises, and not having to book restaurants means there’s less to plan. Like Tracey says, “Not wondering, ‘what’s for supper?’ takes the pressure off so much of the days!”

17. Attend a Broadway-Style Show

Enjoy world-class entertainment without leaving the ship. For a night at sea, it’s a great way to enjoy the evening before you head out for dinner and drinks. After all, where else can you watch a theatre show without the hassle of getting there and back?

18. Zip-Line Across the Deck

Soar above the ship for a thrilling adventure.

19. Take a Dip in the Infinity Pool

There’s not much better than swimming (ok, mostly floating around and enjoying the views) from the Wonder of the Seas’ infinity pool. Grab a cocktail, a book, a hat, and enjoy the ocean breeze in between dips in the pool.

20. Ice Skate at Sea

Yes, Wonder of the Seas even has an ice rink! You could be wrapping up in your scarf to glide around on the ice during the middle of Caribbean summertime.

21. Take Pictures of The Bahamas’ Famous Beaches

It’s hard to imagine anywhere more photogenic than The BahamasThe powdery white sands and intense blue waters aren’t just on the brochures – they’re just as dazzling in real life!

22. Treat Yourself to a Spa Day

It’s a holiday, after all! Really get into relaxation mode for a few hours and pamper yourself with massages, facials, and more at Royal Caribbean ships’ onboard spas.

23. Enjoy a Lazy Day at Sea

Tracey captured the essence of these days perfectly: “This day was long, lazy, and ridiculously lekker.” While we’re all for exploring your ports, some of the joy of cruising is in chilling on the ship without having to stress about packing, transport, airports, or anything else.

24. Explore the Mayan Ruins in Costa Maya
Discover ancient pyramids and ceremonial sites, all set against a jungle backdrop. This stop is the perfect opportunity to do a guided shore excursion where you’ll get a glimpse into Mayan civilization.

25. Capture Views from Your Balcony
Sometimes, you don’t want to put on real clothes to go and catch a view. Luckily, you can roll out of bed in your PJs or gown early one morning and watch the sunrise paint the horizon from the comfort of your balcony.

26. Play Trivia with Fellow Guests
Pub quizzes just got better! Test your knowledge across fun categories like pop culture, history, or travel as you compete with friends and fellow cruisers.

27. Take Advantage of A New Time Zone

We’re firm believers that you should take proper leave when you’re on holiday – and a Caribbean cruise means you’re on a totally different schedule to usual. Tracey found it transformative: “Being in a different time zone really does make the world of difference by not being available when everyone back at home, at work, etc. are awake. I switched off properly for the first time in a very long time.”

28. Perform for a Crowd at Karaoke

South Africa doesn’t have the same karaoke culture as a lot of overseas destinations, but you can get your fill onboard wonder of the seas at the Spotlight karaoke venue. You can perform on the main stage or if you’re a little shy, in private rooms.

29. Experience Proper Mixology at Onboard Cocktail Bars

Sometimes, a glass of wine or a gin and tonic just doesn’t cut it. Those are the times when you need a carefully thought out and perfectly mixed cocktail. Luckily, the onboard cocktail bars have you covered, whether it’s tropical drinks by the pool at The Lime and Coconut or sophisticated sunset cocktails at The Vue.

30. Watch a Comedy Show
Laughter is the best medicine, and the onboard comedy shows promise plenty of it. Catch top comedians in a laid-back venue, perfect for ending your day on a high note. Who knows, maybe you’ll find the next Trevor Noah!

31. Explore Roatán’s Beaches
Honduras’ Roatán is famous for its idyllic beaches, and it’s easy to see why. Spend your time swimming in crystal-clear waters or simply soaking up the tropical vibes on pristine white sand.

32. Dance the Night Away at Music Hall
With live bands and DJs playing everything from classics to club hits, this is the ultimate spot for night owls. Whether you’re lighting up the dance floor or just enjoying the music, it’s guaranteed fun for your whole group.

33. Take a Salsa Dancing Class

If you’re dancing at the Music Hall anyway, you might as well learn new moves with an onboard salsa class. It might just be your next hobby.

34. Attend a Culinary Workshop

A cooking class is always a fun thing to do in a new destination, and can really help you get to the heart of a new country’s cuisine. Luckily, you don’t have to spend precious port time at cooking classes – just do one onboard Wonder of the Seas!

35. Capture the Moments

You’ll want to look back on this for-evvver. Tracey’s smartphone came in really handy. “I still have a stupid amount of pictures and videos to share, as well as a few tips. But for now, I’m basking in my new ‘glow’ (tan!) courtesy of the Caribbean and my time aboard the Wonder of the Seas” she said.

36. Visit the Casino Royale

Put on your best poker face and try your luck at the slots or table games (responsibly, of course!).

37. Join Themed Parties
From ’80s disco nights to tropical beach bashes, themed parties onboard are a guaranteed hit. Dress up, dance, have a drink or two, and make memories you’ll treasure forever.

38. Discover the Art Gallery
Wander through the ship’s art gallery and admire an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and more. If you fall in love with a piece, you can even make it part of your own collection.

39. Book Your Next Adventure
