Thanks to the long golden beaches, outdoor adventures, and small city charm, it’s a perfect spot for holidaymakers looking for a mix of relaxation and activity. 2. Hike the Robberg Nature Reserve

The Robberg Nature Reserve is a highlight for anyone visiting Plett. This protected area features scenic hiking trails that take you along cliffs, through fynbos, and to stunning viewpoints overlooking the Indian Ocean.

The reserve is home to a Cape fur seal colony, often seen basking on the rocks or playing in the water. During whale season (July to December), you can also spot southern right and humpback whales from several viewpoints

While you’re at the Robberg Nature Reserve, you’ll definitely want to make a stop at the Nelson Bay Cave for some Stone Age history.

Plettenberg Bay’s history stretches back thousands of years, with evidence of Stone Age inhabitants found on the Robberg Peninsula. The area was also named Bahia Formosa, or “Beautiful Bay,” by Portuguese explorers and later became an important timber trade hub during the Dutch East India Company era.
