Day 1 & 2 – Los Angeles to Palm Springs
Upon arrival, spend your afternoon at leisure in the 'City of Angels' before commencing the 147 mile (237km) drive to Palm Springs on day two. Take the time to explore Anaheim's illustrious list of theme parks, including the original Disneyland Park, en route to the majestic San Jacinto Mountains. Enjoy a laid back evening dining in downtown Palm Springs, or ride the aerial tramway for panoramic views of the Coachella Valley.
Day 3 – Palm Springs to Phoenix/Scottsdale
After a morning of exploration, set out 267 miles (430kms) to the east. With Phoenix's skyscraper-filled skyline complemented by famed Camelback Mountain and Scottsdale's Old West charm, you're sure to enjoy the Southwestern flavour of these top Arizona cities.
Day 4 – Phoenix to Grand Canyon National Park
Travel 230 miles (370kms) north to the Grand Canyon National Park where the day is yours to discover the scenic South Rim. Highlights include the Rim Trail, Hermit Road and stone Watchtower, boasting160 kilometre panoramas.
Day 5 & 6 – Grand Canyon National Park to Las Vegas
Leave the grandeur of the Canyon behind as you head west 267 miles (444kms) across historic Route 66 to Hoover Dam. Then it's on to Las Vegas where day six will be spent enjoying lavish 'Sin City'. Bask in the neon glow of The Strip, catch a show or simply relax in style by the side of the pool.
Day 7 – Las Vegas to Death Valley National Park
Bound for Death Valley National Park, this 139 mile (224km) stretch leads to the lowest elevation in North America. Explore the rugged splendour of the Mojave Desert, savouring the spectacular views at Zabriskie Point and some of the best stargazing in the world.
Day 8 – Death Valley National Park to Yosemite National Park
From the lowest point to the highest drivable pass in California, Tioga Road starts the 326 mile (525km) journey to Yosemite National Park. Profound natural beauty awaits with more than 1,200 kilometres of hiking trails available to explore it all.
Day 9 & 10 – Yosemite National Park to San Francisco
Follow the trail of the Gold rush as you pass throughout California's state capital, Sacramento, on the 195 mile (314km) journey to San Francisco. Day ten is yours to discover the charms of the 'City by the Bay', from notable neighbourhoods – Chinatown, Union Square and Golden Gate Park – to trundling along in an iconic Cable Car. Don't forget the famous wineries of scenic Napa Valley are also close by.
Day 11 – San Francisco to Monterey/Carmel
Travel 130 miles (210kms) south along Highway 1 to reach Monterey – home to Old Fisherman's Wharf and historic Cannery Row. Visit quaint Carmel, and enjoy an exhilarating trip along 17-Mile Drive from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach.
Day 12 – Monterey/Carmel to Santa Barbara/Ventura
Take in scenic views from the cliff-hugging Pacific Highway, traversing 280 miles (451kms) to Santa Barbara. This your chance to see Big Sur, Hearst Castle and Morrow Bay before continuing south to Ventura, Pismo Beach and the vivacious Santa Barbara.
Day 13 & 14 – Ventura to Malibu to Santa Monica to Los Angeles
Day 13's short 70 mile (120km) stretch ventures south through Oxnard before taking in the coastal beauty en route to Malibu and the seaside town of Santa Monica. From here, it's back to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles where the afternoon and evening are free for such highlights as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Sunset Strip, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. You'll be back in time for your day 14 departure, taking with you many fond memories of the best of the west coast.
