The Qatar Grand Prix is back, bringing Formula 1 to the desert under the glittering floodlights of the Losail International Circuit. Qatar's famous Losail International Circuit, situated on the outskirts of the city of Doha, is the host of the first FIA Formula One World Championship event held in the country. Designed primarily with motorcycle racing in mind, the 5.4-kilometre Losail International Circuit is a fast and flowing track, where medium and high speed corners are the focus. Over one kilometre of the track's total length is made up of the main straight, which provides plenty of overtaking opportunities into Turn 1. The entire circuit is surrounded by artificial grass to prevent the Qatari desert sand from blowing onto the track. Doha is the capital city of Qatar, which forms part of the larger Arabian Peninsula and is fast becoming one of the most exciting destinations in the Middle Eastern region.
