Accommodation in Kakadu
Escape to another world by staying in Kakadu National Park. From hotels shaped like crocodiles, to eco-resorts and budget cabins for backpackers, the region offers a wide range of accommodation. Deciding where to stay can be difficult – do you choose luxury at one of the hotels? Seclusion at a wilderness retreat? How about some no-frills excitement at an Outback camping spot? Whichever place you decide on, you're certainly going to have a memorable time staying in Kakadu National Park.
Safari Retreats
To enjoy the famous Kakadu sights and sounds in seclusion, take a look at one of the safari retreats available. Offering the most luxurious accommodation options in the region, the Wildman Wilderness Lodge and Bamurra Plains both offer a full range of amenities including a restaurant and swimming pool. To top it off, there could be wildlife greeting you at your doorstep most mornings!
Hotels
Arguably the most iconic sight in Kakadu isn't a gorge or a waterfall, but the Holiday Inn. Shaped like a crocodile, the Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Holiday Inn remains one of the most popular places to stay in the area and features spacious air-conditioned rooms as well as its own art gallery. Also located in Jabiru is the three-star Aurora Kakadu Hotel – a 138-room hotel with a swimming pool, tennis court, spa and licensed restaurant.
Cabins & Cottages
Staying at a cabin or lodge is a great way to get up close to nature without breaking your holiday budget. Throughout the region there are a handful of different cabins and cottages to choose from, each offering its own unique experience. Surrounded by the Yellow Water Billabong is Cooinda Lodge Kakadu – with rooms ranging from spacious lodge rooms all the way down to budget dorms, price is just one of the reasons the lodge so popular. If facilities are what you are after, a stay in the township of Jabiru is a good idea. The self-contained cabins at Kakadu Lodge and Lakeview Park Kakadu are both well-located and well-priced.
Backpackers & Hostels
Unfortunately, Kakadu doesn't have the same range of buzzing backpackers and hostels as Darwin or Alice Springs, but you can still soak up the atmosphere by staying in one of the dorm rooms at the Cooinda Lodge Kakadu.
Caravan & Camping
A great way to have a no-frills stay is by camping or staying in one of Kakadu's caravan parks. Inside the park you'll find plenty of picturesque camping grounds with park-run campsites allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If you really want to spend a night or two like an Outback ranger, it's possible to camp outside of designated areas but you'll need to acquire a permit to do this.
