Cancun is world-famous for its glorious stretches of soft, white beaches and crystal-blue water; the hidden coves and nearby tropical islands only add to the allure of this magnificent destination.

Cancun’s north side off the Mujeres Bay offers a relaxing atmosphere where beaches feature gentle waves and a light tropical breeze. The Isla (Island) Mujeres can be seen in the distance, which helps shelter the beaches from the more treacherous wave conditions making for more suitable swimming and snorkelling conditions.
Both Punta Cancun and Playa Caracol are located near the top end where the bay waters meet the sea. The western end features beautiful water and more shallow conditions along with several water-based activities and nearby restaurants and bars.
For all the action, head to the beaches near the ferry service to Isla Mujeres. Playa Las Perlas and Playa Langosta offer an array of beach sports and thrill-seeking activities as well as easy access to the beautiful island and reef snorkelling areas.
The eastern and south side beaches are where the best views, bigger waves and wide open stretches of beach can be found, and where many of the luxury hotels and resorts are located. If you like surfing, boogie boarding or parasailing this is the place to be.
Playa Delfines offers gorgeous views and is an enjoyable place to spend the day taking in the scenery with a good book or out in the water lapping up the waves. At Playa Ballenas, the views are equally spectacular and even though it’s one of the most popular beaches, it feels surprisingly uncrowded as the beach continues for several kilometres.
No matter what stretch of sand and surf you decide to explore, the beaches of Cancun are all glorious. If you don’t care to venture too far, simply head to the nearest hotel and resort area and a lovely tide will be waiting to greet you.
