Popular Day Trips From Singapore
Our Top 3 Singapore Day Trips
Pulau Ubin
For a taste of old Singapore, catch a bumboat to the island of Pulau Ubin. The boomerang- shaped island is covered in trees _ the remnants of rubber plantations _ and dotted with beaches and old Malay houses. It has some of Singapore’s last villages, or kampongs, where villagers still count on wells for water and generators for electricity. The best way to explore is by bike, which cost $10-$20 to rent.
Changi Museum
Learn about World War II history on a tour with Singapore Walks. The Changi Museum War Trails tour visits Changi Museum, the Johore Battery naval guns and Changi Beach, where 66 Chinese male civilians were killed by Japanese military police firing squads in 1942. The company also has a Battlefield Tour which covers the strategies, plots and action that led to the Fall of Singapore.
Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Cross the border to Johor Bahru, the capital of Johor State in Malaysia and see the Moorish-style Sultan Abu Bakar Mosque and visit a Batik handicraft centre to see traditional Malay arts and crafts being made. Also visit a kampong and Muslim cemetery to admire the exterior of The Royal Mausoleum, which has been the final place for Royalty of Johore Bahru, before returning to Singapore.
