The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is one of the city’s most inviting and picturesque attractions. Over 17 hectares of manicured gardens and lush landscapes along beautiful White Rock Lake make this an idyllic setting for a long walk or picnic.

The magnificent grounds, once part of an elaborate private estate, features many shows and events throughout the year including intimate concerts, thoughtful lecture discussions and various social occasions. The historic Spanish style home still graces the grounds where visitors can enjoy high-tea in the period dining room or an al fresco terrace lunch.

Seasonal shows and flower displays filled with colour create a magical setting any time of year. Eight different gardens, each with various floral and plant themes combine to create one of the most beautiful public areas in the entire city.

Various plant trails within the arboretum highlight the special nature of gardening and nurturing plants and flowers in the varied north Texas climate. The past decade has seen the grounds and facilities expand and a new visitor centre was opened in late 2002.

The facility houses a gift shop and conference room and outdoor areas for recreation. Whether it’s for an event or just a peaceful stroll through the grounds, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is a must see attraction.

The arboretum and gardens are just northeast of downtown Dallas and minutes away from Interstate 30, also known as the E.R.L. Thornton Freeway. From the freeway take the East Grand Avenue exit and proceed northeast on Grand Avenue. This becomes Garland Road and the gardens will be located on the left. Parking is available for a fee.
