If you are visiting Guam chances are you may already be at Tumon Beach. Surrounded by hotels, Tumon is the centre of Guam’s tourist industry and you won’t find it hard to realise why as soon as you arrive. Packed full of tourist attractions such as the largest tunnel aquarium in the world, the Magic on Ice Show at the Sand Castle and for the brave, the Daring Sling Shot, it’s still the crystal clear water at Tumon Beach that really takes the cake.
Beachside you’ll find plenty of activities to keep you occupied for days on end. Thanks to government legislation the beach remains a wildlife preserve making it an ideal location for snorkelling and diving. Night diving is what Tumon Beach is particularly renowned for and if you are taking a moonlight dip remember to pack a change of clothes so you can go straight to the Beach Bar afterwards – the bar even has its own shower!
Swimmers, you’re in for a treat too when visiting Tumon Beach. Not only is the beach hardly ever crowded, thanks to the area acting as a natural lagoon, Tumon Beach is protected from open surf making the waters clear and calm year around. Picking the perfect place to swim might be the only dilemma you have on your visit to Tumon Beach. The beach has many aspects so it’s very easy for you to catch the morning sun or hide in the shade under palm trees.
Those staying in a beachside hotel may be lucky enough to find the beach right on their doorstep while if you’re visiting from other parts of Guam set your GPS to Ypao Beach Park located close to the Hilton and in an almost central part of the beach. If you really are dying to cast a line, rest assured that almost anything is possible at Tumon Beach. Fishing is allowed in limited areas but you must stand on the beach while doing so as walking into the water to fish is against all the rules.
