Preservation Hall is a music venue established in the early 1960’s to promote and preserve America’s unique music tradition – New Orleans Jazz. What better area for this storied hall to be located in than the French Quarter just blocks from the mighty Mississippi River and historic Jackson Square. This is a vibrant New Orleans area alive with music, culture and history and this great music epitomizes this great southern city.
Open nightly for live jazz concerts, there are three different 45 minute performances held between 8 and 11pm. The intimate space has a capacity for only a hundred people and offers a fun filled atmosphere in which to enjoy the excellent bands that perform in this colourfully historic space. Tickets are sold for each separate performance session.
The building that houses this culturally famous venue is an historic structure that dates back over 260 years. Built in 1750, the long standing structure was originally a private residence and later decades saw the building morph into everything from a tavern and inn to an art gallery. Today though, some of the greatest New Orleans Jazz performers play here, ensuring that this rich musical tradition lives on.
Preservation Hall is located just two blocks west of Jackson Square in the historic French Quarter. Follow the one way St. Peter Street in the direction of traffic from Jackson Square. The hall is located on the left hand side of the street between Royal and Bourbon Streets.
